Mk2 Hub conversions - Questions regarding 5 studs
« on: 06 January 2006, 19:44 »
Right folks, not really knowing an awaful lot about the technical side of the process, but im surious.

What is involved?

I really fancy a certain set of adui rim's on my mk2, and they only do them in 5 stud, PCD 5 X 100, which i'm assuming is the same as mk3 golfs etc.

What's needed to get 5 stud rims, on my 4 stud mk2 driver?

Is there an easy way to do it with adapotrs, or would I need a total mk3 set-up swopped over?

Ta folks.

either way to be honest, adaptors is easier but might make the rims stick out too far, plus if you went for a hub swap its a good chance to upgrade brakes?
team grumpy....... its a way of life, not a forum post

Not sure, atm full braking set-up is off in the future along with an engine upgrade, but where can you get the 4 bolt to 5 bolt adapotrs from then?

What kinda offset would i need to run to compensate for them etc?

i have seen a few adapters going about on e bay before, but taking them 5x 130, you might fight it hard to find ones to 5x100, i imagine that because the holes were at the same diameter as the bolts holding on the adapter, but i dunno, i am sure if its possible your cheapest and easiest option would to get a engineering firm to whip so up for you on a lathe, using probably steel, i dunno if aluminium would be too soft or not???

I guess just have to keep my eyes open for a mk3 set-up then, safer that way.

Right then, what do I need!!!

Give me the list, lol!

aye but increase your offset by +15 / +20mm as already mentioned or can you not read?

so then you need to find 5 stud wheels with et50/55 which aint easy!
