Picked up me new car this afternoon. Well chuffed...! They seem such a well sorted car and move along ok even bearing in mind the standard tune of 150bhp.

I need to replace the plunger button with the chrome cap on the handbrake... already have the replacement part with the spring from VW, Anyone know how to do this as I have not got a haynes manual for this car / do not know where the screw positions are. Seems more involved than on thre mk1's and 2's.

Hi All,

Forgot to ask...

I understand that the mk4 20v T has an immobiliser fitted as standard. Mine is a 99 T and does not have the RCL. Have been told by the VW parts person that the key will have a chip in it for activating and de-activating this. Is this the case.... ? I prized open the key and it looks like there is a small chip (or something that would be doing the job).

These are CAT 2 thatcham approved yes...? as the insurance requires a Thatcham approved one. Anyone know the name of the model that is fitted to these cars.
