On the mk2 the 4 bolts that secure the bumper are also securing the front cross member therefore the front engine mount . There are 2x8mm bolts that still secure it when you remove the bumper but I personally wouldn't risk driving it like that .
The only way you could is to remove the 2 bumper brackets from the main bumper and refit them so that can refit the 4 bolts .

But make sure there are no jagged edges exposed and that you have all your indicators and numberplate as Mr Plod may not be too happy if you get stopped.

100% correct.

seems funny that they won't/cant do your car dizzie? mines been done and its a fair bit lower than yours?

must be different kit for different places. everywhere I've been round here says it's too low. I'll just bolt the wing on with 1 bolt on the top and then slot it in with the bumper. hopefully it'll hold together. then I can just undo the 1 bolt and slide it out from the runners on the bumper. I won't be doing over 30 mph anyway.

cheers

No you don't, mk1 bumpers are mounted differently and the engine mountings are different also .

As long as you've got indicators and numberplate fitted and no sharp/jagged edges you'll be fine
