valver downpipe??
« on: 15 November 2005, 15:03 »
the valver is down at my trusty grease monkey today getting a new clutch and downpipe.  he's just been on the blower sayin that the cheapest he can get the downpipe for is £175    must have misread the old gsf catalogue!

does this sound about right for an 89 16v??  i believe it has a flexi piece in the pipe..

21246B SILENCER-FRONT+DOWN PIPE  G2 16V 2/86 >10/91  125.00

thats the price on GSF's website..have to add VAT on aswell, sooo....unless my calculators bust that makes it £147 (rounded up)

Yep that is indeed correct, mine is in today having a complete pipe including downpipe, I didn't believe the guy at the garage and got straight on the net to check at gsf and europarts.

Believe me Daz I would have loved to of put on a 4-branch. I would of if it wasn't 'just another £80' on top of the £600 I'm already having to spend of a full exhaust and complete set of brake lines :(

Yeah it all seems to bit a bit more strict now they are bringing in one standard across the board. The last MOT I had done at this garage was on my winter runabout. It had a hole the size of the grand canyon in the exhaust but they managed to stuff a load of exhaust paste in it to get it through the emissions test. It seems those days are gone.

it kinda had a nice roar before i spunked the old girls footwear budget on a new downpipe today

believe it or not the shoes work out about the same price as the pipe, i mean what a waste of money.

some bint was selling a "well used" pair on ebay for 85 squid today.  she must have been a right old porker cos she modded them - the heels were "reinforced...."
