Ok - will throw this into the equasion - My budget is a bag of sand (grand) - 8v or 16v (also needs to be 5 door).
I was going to opt for MK II 8v as:
More choice
8 valves less on it to go wrong
Figured that at this level of budget - would rather go for a good 8V than a ropey 16v
Any thoughts that could persuade me otherwise.
PS - I have a really old car mag in the loft somewhere (87 - 88) I think which does a review of the 16V golf when it first came out - going to dig it out this w/end
