Service/MOT Rip Off?

Been to an independent garage this weekend, and the price quoted was £300.00 (cash, naturally) which includes a new front tyre, the ABS wire, the new brake pads, the discs machined, plus an MOT. The bulbs cost me 4 quid, which I managed to do myself in spite of my limited car knowledge

If the discs are coming off to be machined, get the wheel bearings changed, very little extra labour and a set of genuine bearings is about £30.  It will save you a lot in the long run.
