Newbie - Whats this 16v GTi worth?
« on: 30 October 2005, 15:40 »
Hi all,

A mate of mine just recently bought a royal blue 16v GTi (really MINT) and i've decided to follow suit. I don't know anything about Mk2's but i've seen one nearby and was wondering what you guys think its worth?

Details are:

1990 Mk2 16v GTi 5dr
Black
110K miles
Lots of service history
Jetta front-end conversion
15'' alloys
interior is MINT no rips

The car is in VERY GOOD condition with only two minor points. A small dent on wing and small bubble on boot.

What do you guys think its worth?

Any help appreciated.

Proper 90 spec? big bumpers? since It's a 5 door, about £1k I guess.

Thanks for the advice guys, really appreciate it.

Organisys, you mentioned 90' spec and big bumpers but i don't know what you mean. Can any one show me some pics of a 90 spec?

I've also got some more questions if you don't mind?

Whats the bhp difference between 8v and 16v?
Are 16v worth more?
Are 5dr worth less than 3drs?

Cheers

90 spec cars had a few things updated the most noticeable being the big bumpers.
Big bumpers have a colour coded plastic skirt incorporated into them underneath the grey plastic. The easiest way to tell if the car is a proper 1990 spec is the location of the hazard light switch. If it's on top of the steering column it's a 90 spec, if it's on the dash it's a pre-90 car.
16v=139bhp 8v=112bhp
A well maintained 16v will normally sell for more than an equivalent 8v.
3drs usually sell for a bit more as they seem to be more desirable.

Hope this helps
Toby

Big bumper.

Bhp difference, 8v is 114bhp, 16v is 139bhp.

16v are worth more.

3 door are worth more than 5.

Sorry slick but I have to disagree, 8v is 112bhp in the book.
