Question regarding DSG adaption
« on: 17 August 2026, 14:20 »
Hey all,

So I think I'm going to have to complete a DSG adaption, because the clutches aren't changing smoothly enough, after the TCU reflash.

Seems like the mechatronic is using the old biting points and therefore a bit jerky.

For those of you, who have done this reset on your Mk7's, how many VCDS/OBD11 menus, in the Trans section do you reset and more importantly, the calibration drive - AI suggests a skip gear drive, for 10 cycles. Then a couple of pull aways.

Has anyone done this or followed a different process?

I have both VCDS & OBD11, but VCDS is the one i trust more.

Any advice or info, appreciated..

Thanks

Wayne.

DSG adaption *Update*

****Update****

So i went ahead and did the DSG recalibration, using VCDS.
Was very straightforward in the end.

Sat on my drive and did the reset.

Lots of clunking and banging but nothing too bad.
Took around 20 minutes and then onto the all important drive.

I intentionally went out late at night, so i could drive on fast roads, with lower levels of traffic.

You need to slow down to around 20mph in 2nd in places and then accelerate, going up on the paddles, to 6th and holding for a few minutes, repeating this 5 times as you go through the gearbox. Then using acceleration sense, use the paddles to come back down again.

Very simple.

The outcome..
The car drives so much better than it did.

I personally don't like OBDEleven...Much prefer VCDS, so wouldn't have tried it on the dongle app, though you can apparently.
