Occasional soft non-returning clutch pedal.
« on: 16 August 2026, 09:25 »
What would you do next?

Clutch pedal has occasionally felt a bit weird lately and on a couple of occasions it hasn't fully returned to the top. On one occasion it stuck fully down on the floor. I thinking this a sign of impending failure of the slave or master cylinder.

There a no leaks under dash in the area of the master. Nothing  dripping from the point between the gearbox and engine. Fluid level in reservoir looks good. Yesterday I fully bled the clutch and brake lines to rule out bad fluid, but what came out looked clean.

Assuming this continues, should I start by just changing the master as it is the next easiest thing? Don't want to take out the gearbox to get at the slave unless im certain it's that.

For info, it's a 2015 non-pp with only 38k miles. Any advice appreciated.

Ours did this for a few weeks before the slave cylinder failed.

It seems like a fairly common problem, ours went at 44k

The Mrs went to drive the car in the morning and the pedal was on the floor, fluid coming out from between engine and gearbox.

I really hate concentric slave cylinders, especially if they are made from cheap plastic.
