Electronic Parking Brake Issue - VCDS / OBD11

Hi Folks,

I’ve just replaced the drains and pads etc. on my 2013 mk7 GTi along with a new set of aftermarket rear calipers.
Using my free account OBD11 I put the EPB into service mode. Once I had completed the job I took it back out of device mode, however it has thrown a fault. I am currently getting fault C10E254 - stating No Basic Setting.

I’m assuming with the new calipers they need to be calibrated to suit? The EPB and Auto Hold are working as they should. I’m based in Dunfermline, Scotland and was hoping there might be someone local with VCDS that might be able to sort it out for me if that is the issue.

Did you use an "app" or via the menus?
Have you tried re running the start lining change mode, and end lining change mode again?

I used the ‘apps’. Having finished and having the fault, I have ‘opened’ and ‘closed’ service mode a couple of times with no change to the fault.

When trying to go through the basic settings via the menus to start/end the lining change mode it’s asking me to upgrade to PRO. I’m happy to pay for it if need be, but as I haven’t need Pro for the 8 years I’ve had the car, if I can get around with a little help from someone it would be greatly appreciated.

How to Force the Close Cycle Using Basic OBDeleven Apps

Prepare the Vehicle:

Plug in the OBDeleven dongle.

Turn the ignition ON (accessory mode, engine OFF).

Ensure the physical handbrake switch is pushed DOWN (OFF).

Keep the driver's door shut and the hood open (some VW models block brake adaptations if the hood is shut).

In the OBDeleven mobile app, connect to your car, go to the Garage section, select your vehicle, and open the Apps menu.

Find the Brake Pads Replacement or EPB Service app.

Run the "Close" Action: Instead of clicking "Open", select the Close / End lining change mode option. Hold down the activation button in the app. You should hear the rear caliper motors buzzing for a few seconds as they clamp down.

The 30-Second Rule: Once the motors stop buzzing, do not touch anything for at least 30 seconds. Some VW modules have firmware bugs that freeze the module if you exit the screen too quick.

Cycle and Clear: Turn the ignition off, then turn it back on. Use the physical handbrake switch in the center console to engage and disengage the brake twice.

Finally, run a full system scan in OBDeleven and clear the C10E254 code.

If the app fails or says "Marginal conditions not met", check your car battery voltage. The EPB module will abort calibration if the battery drops below 12.2V. Hooking up a battery charger or jump leads from another running car while performing the step often resolves the issue instantly
