1500 was just a production planning number. The most the factory might make... Rather than being a concept of deliberate rarity, it was a reflection of limited customer base.

Speaking as someone who works in manufacturing...

Do you work for VW in manufacturing?

No plate supplied and was told still going to be a 1000  hopefully they only sell 500 or less lol  if orders are already running late they will have to stop taking orders in August as to give them time to arive by December as January they won’t be a 2026 anniversary they will be 2027

Someone at VW will have to make a decision on numbers sooner or later. Probably sooner.
Speaking to a dealer in April 2025 immediately after the sales manager had returned from Wolfsburg to get a preview of the Ed50 amongst other things at HQ they’d been told there would be unlimited numbers and the order book would be open from the very start of 2026 until the very end. No doubt VW UK (as opposed to VW HQ) will have their own ideas and possibly things have changed at the factory since then, I’d have imagined that components would have to be ordered in quite well in advance of production slots.

Going back to the Ed40, they sold in small numbers owing to price and lack of incentives (sound familiar?) and quite a few were scattered around in various specs to dealers in the UK in early 2017 who were then told to pre-register any remaining ones in March 2017 (and I bought one of those in early May 2017 with a sizeable saving).

Moral of the story, don’t take as gospel what you hear from UK VW dealers! Things seem to change from VW UK from time to time.

Garwen, love the car, that’ll be the sought after spec in years to come I’d imagine. The bottle of Moët was a nice touch. I did see some photos Sinclair put up (who I don’t follow but my VW related algorithms must’ve picked up) on social whatnots.
