@davo they’ll chuck a load of ID.3 GTI’s out on leases along with a campaign of glossy advertising.

I have zero issues with the choice of propulsion, I don’t mind the styling and they’re a handy sized car. However the fact they weigh two tons and are rear motor driven rankles me somewhat wearing a GTI badge, unlike them using a GTX badge which felt more apt. But I get why they did it.

Available in Tornado Red though, just like an Ed50 😁

True GTX badge only, at least they offer it in the best colour which has been missing for years on the Golfs!

Hello , does anyone think that on a tornado red car, the GTI boot badge would look good either fully black, or black with chrome edges?

It’s a bit of a funny mix with a blacked out VW badge and a silver and red GTI logo underneath but on such a limited car I’d personally leave it factory standard which will then match the front GTI badge. Thankfully the Ed50 doesn’t suffer the 8.5 GTI door badges

It’s too easy to overthink these things. Just accept the car for what it is

Not directly related to the edition 50 but I removed my silly GTI 8.5 side badges and replaced with genuine VW mk 8 clubsport ones , which in my opinion looks 100% better . I’m still thinking of buying edition 50 but still can’t get round to pulling the trigger as think it’s still too much money and holding out for better deal or just keep my 8.5 Clubsport

There are deals to be had but from what I experienced only off dealer stock and not off factory orders (well apart from a token gesture).

I was trying to hold off for a better deal as the deals on an R are much better, but ultimately I went ahead as the chance of getting the spec I wanted AND a deal was getting increasingly slim, especially as production is meant to end next month.

I think if you are not bothered too much by spec they there will be better deals. If you are bothered by spec then I would ring around. I got a decent deal (at least in my eyes) but not close to what I got on my TCR. Times change… and ultimately I am happy and that’s all that matters I guess!

Still to stick on the numbered plaque… from all the YouTube videos I have watched it looks like folks are putting these on the side of the dash, out of sight and only visible when the door opens…

Anyone landed on a “better” place or at least in sight? So many angled surfaces doesn’t make for many options….

Hi, managed to get a Tornado Red on reserved at my local garage on Sunday which they have as a showroom car , £54395 down to £50750. I was haggling over a pre regd car with 2500 miles which is currently stuck at £51098 which has virtually everything. Would have been a joyride car for the sales team. New one was less so no brainer.

The car has red wheels, roof, HK, Velour wheel, PP. Can’t get it until December but at least staying within the showroom.

I’m looking at one at Basingstoke, a cancelled order which has basically all the must have’s £57k! Would you spec leather in this car, probably not

Same experience as what I had in that the deals against new (dealer stock) were better than the ex demos.

Agree on leather. For me it takes away one of the unique aspects of the car. Nice all the same though
