Same with my 8.5. Has rarely worked, even after long runs. Last time it did start working was after going for a spirited drive. I will be leaving it for its first service in December for them to check it and whether the battery has an issue. I do have a dashcam which is connected to permanent live for parking mode, so whether that drains the battery to any great extent, I don't know.
