Get another RS!
Although I don’t have specific experience of tuning mk8’s I do have a very long background of modifying Golfs right back from mk1’s through to mk7’s.
I’ve had plenty of remaps, and before OBD tunes were a thing I also had physical ECU chip changes.
I’ve had a few plug in boxes too, and even a mixture of both on a TDI 😁
In my (expensive) experience, the plug in boxes work best on Diesels.
On the petrol cars there seems to be a minute delay before the extra power comes in which you don’t notice when really gunning it but you do in more general give and take driving.
Personally I’d stick with OBD tunes on a petrol car.
Having had a mk8 Clubsport, R and now 8.5R I don’t find them lacking in power for road use.
If you want more, you can’t beat having a bigger capacity engine.
