So I went back this morning and asked the guy at reception if he had a key. Happy to say he was a true enthusiast and gave me a tour of the car.

Very excited to take delivery, hopefully in May.

The seats and steering wheel felt great - VW have done a great job imo.

For the Irish lads who’ve ordered / ordering on here…

Have ye noticed that the “Discover Nav” is actually not standard equipment in the Edition 50 here? It’s down on the options list for about €1200. It’s a bit bizarre, considering it’s standard (I think) on most of the Golf range! I realise built-in nav is kinda pointless now anyway, but I wonder does its absence make the infotainment screen a bit strange? The live map is the main “tile” on the Home Screen of my CS.

I’m guessing that VW Ireland may have deleted it in order to get the base price down a bit.

Also, if you spec the PP, are you also forced to pay on top of that for the semi slick tyres? The configurator seems to suggest you do.

In the uk the pp  comes with the tyres as standard even though the configurator was showing a price of £880 extra vw uk said its standard everywhere   Dont know why they did it like this
There are many bugs in the configurator that the dealers don’t have the answers to like if you order it in black you get the clubsport honey come air intake but not in any other colour which is bizarre and nobody knows what it is yet

For Irish lads I was led to believe by dealer that the navigation 12.9 screen was standard, yes I saw it as extra but I think that's just for the Ida system I could be wrong and would need to establish.
The performance pack forced the semi slick which in total added over 7k.
I see a Dealer in Dublin has now put an advert for edition 50's ie open for
Orders. I was led to believe the Irish allocation was met so also a bit strange.

Joe I think you may be correct I just checked online configuration again and it doesn't appear to be included 12.9 screen standard no
Nav. Has anyone seen this before is it a requirement with app connect. It's crazy for cost of car not to be standard pure penny pinching.

You'd still have the same 12.9" screen and wireless App connect will definitely be on it (CarPlay or Android Auto) and I suppose most people use that for navigation these days. I've never used the built in Nav, but like I said earlier the "live map" is there on my home screen all the time.

Looks like you also don't get "IDA", but thats no loss imo, its on my current car and I've never used it.

Its strange to omit this on the "halo" car when its standard pretty much across the rest of the range.

It is possible that the hardware is there and it might be something you can activate/purchase later if you wish via the "Shop" on the infotainment.
