New tyres
« on: 12 June 2025, 17:40 »
Tyres were an advisory on my latest MOT.  2 were replaced a year in of ownership due to a RTA. What are people replacing with/ finding good? I have had Hankook on from factory and been ok.
I have done a v low mileage which is why only just having to replace them.

PS5. With them steering became even more precise, but really after 500-600 km

Mine came with Goodyear Eagle F1 Supersports, kept with these and find they are very good. Other option I’ve had before on a prior car is Michelin Pilot Sport 5s, again they are very good tyres.

I used Goodyear Eagle F1 a few times. Currently on Michelin PS5 but…..
at next change I might go back to Goodyear mainly because I think they have better rim protection.

Anyone got a view on the rim protection claims?

This is a good point, the rim protection on the Goodyear I have found is much better than on the Michelin, the Goodyears is very chunky. Hopefully it’s never needed, but does give peace of mind!

If it were me I'd change all four. Seems silly to replace three. I'd feel much more comfortable knowing I'd got a new set all round. Just keep the one as a spare rather than bin it.

Totally agree mad to do 3 tyres!

And PS5 would of been a way better choice had hankooks  on mine from new thought they were ok but PS5'S have made it a different car superb tyres in all conditions

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6's.

Better value than Michelins and very good tyres.  My car had Bridgestone S005s originally and I replaced with F1 A6s.  No regrets, but like a lot of things it comes down to personal preference in the end.  There is no 'best' tyre.

Swapped my S3s factory fit Potenzas (sh!te) for Goodyear Asy6 and was mildly disappointed. They weren't head and shoulders better than the Potenzas. I always go for Michelins and wish I had this time!
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....
