I did the same when I was buying. I initially paid no attention to TCRs, had little idea about them/didn't get the appeal and were out of budget. As desperations grew finding the right performance pack at the time (previous deal fell through and had sold my car by this point so needed a car before I had to cancel insurance, etc.) budget stretching and man math made me look at TCRs. Once I watched every video on youtube I was won over  :grin: I've now even got my friend searching for Mk8 CS even though he might be able to get a TTRS for free off a family friend.

It is on its second engine and the friend is moving country. Car unsurprisingly isn't worth much as it is on its last legs, so offering it to him (so that he is able to use it when he is in the country) is easier/makes more sense for them.
