My wife prefers a manual and she will need to use it occasionally. She did drive my PDK Boxster but was never very happy about it!
I would prefer a manual too as I enjoy the interaction and I don’t need a commuter ( I am fortunate to be able to walk to work) but Buying the right car that has been cherished is my priority

Always best to keep the Missus happy I guess. I do find the manual shifts quite enjoyable on the DSG but revert back to auto out of habit.
