Hi all, I’m new to the group and I’m facing problem that I can’t resolve.
I own a Golf 5 GTI. I replaced the cam chain and timing belt 3 months ago (7,000 km ago). I decided to replace it because I saw in VCDS, block 93, phase position bank 1 intake, that it was at -7. After replacing the cam chain and timing belt, the value was at -2, which is within the acceptable range.

Yesterday, I checked again and it was back at -7. I should mention that I didn’t replace the variable camshaft adjuster, and I suspect it might be causing the issue.

I also checked block 91 in VCDS, Cam Adjustment Intake B1 specified vs. actual. At idle, the specified value is 28, but the actual value fluctuates by 0.5 to 1 degree — meaning it goes down to 27 or 27.5, and up to 28.5 or 29.

I’m not sure what the exact problem is and kindly ask for your assistance.

Best regards.
