People are slower to change cars because normal people have had their wages flatline, inflation has increased costs and finance is no longer cheap.

That's the truth, the last dozen years are over... Crunch after crunch myself and many others don't have the cash to burn on cars anymore.

Yes, all true, Fred- but the uncertainty about the car industry is also a big factor.

For a lot of people in the UK its the lack of being able to home charge.... I am lucky, I have a driveway. Many of my colleagues do not.

Yes, and the number of public charging points has hardly increased in the last 12 months!

VW to cut up to 100,000 jobs and 50% of models from line up.

Really doesn't seem to be getting any better for VW.

On a brighter note, at least it will mean we won't see as many VW cars with a glowing front and rear badge.

I’m glad it’s not just me who doesn’t like illuminated badges. It’s not just VW that have adopted this current trend which hopefully will be short-lived, but sadly is probably here to stay.

Nothing is new! My wolsey 1500 in 1967 had an illuminated front badge but that was discrete.
Mk6 GTI Carbon Grey, 2010 Bluetooth and voice fitted, a few VCDS mods still a comfortable family car. Red Scirocco 2011 twin charger stage 1 - enjoyable drive now gone.  White 2016 Polo GTI (roller skate on steroids) replaced with an Indium Grey 2019 7.5 GTI PP.
