Golf GTI mk8.5: shop does not work

Thanks new2golf, I don't seem to have the DM option on my account.

My car is in the dealers at the moment and they at a loss with it being a new system. The  globe icon did light up and  work until a couple of days ago but the dealers are saying the car is not connecting to the VW back end servers since I picked it up just over a month ago.

Didn't  realise when I bought the car  I was signing up to be a beta tester 

That sounds like it’s something to do with the eSIM or connection hardware, the 8.5 uses the same infotainment as the later iD models, so it’s been out there for a while, it’s new to Golf, but not new to VW.

I have exactly the same issue, mk8.5 UK, no internet radio or shop. The car is connected to the internet (globe icon is white). VW told me to reset the infotainment system which didn't help. Has anyone had any luck getting this fixed?

No fix yet for me, dealer had it for 2 days.  Booked in again for early December for a week (first date for courtesy car).

When I got it back this week, I tried a factory reset and setting up a new VW account and removing car from my original VW account  but still no luck but it did get the globe icon to work again.

I suspect when it goes back in,  it will be a case  try trial and error, starting with software/firmware and then moving onto hardware. Hopefully I get an early Christmas present and they fix it and  I can give an update.

I think you may have to consent to marketing and advertising in your VW account for it to work, just a guess though, for me though the shop still works, it didn’t to begin with though, and I seem to remember granting access to those settings, as for once, I actually read what it meant, and I think it said some things won’t work without doing so, so it could be something to do with it?!? Maybe..

Re the shop, I called VW and they said the car isn't connecting to their back end. They've asked me to send pictures of the error messages so they can investigate.

What software version are people on? Mine is 2460. There is no software update available though the shop error message says I need to update the software!

Re the internet radio, I assume you need to use you own data for this, I can connect to my phone hotspot fine in the settings but the internet radio says there is no internet connection...perhaps it's connected to the issue with the shop?

For me internet radio works without the phone even in the car, so it’s not that, I read somewhere when I was setting the car up that VW bears the cost for the eSIM for everything accept the Wi-Fi hotspot, presumably this only applies when there is an active WeConnect account with a primary user, so if you were to not extend your contract after 3 years, all but SOS CALL would cease to work, my software is 2565 (car built late September) so I’d imagine this will be a short lived minor issue, even though you can seemingly log in to your weconnect in the car, does it say primary user or guest underneath your name?? Initially when I first set up the car I could get my name to come up but it remained saying guest underneath, this was at the point shop and internet radio didn’t work, I had to set up a whole new WeConnect account with a DIFFERENT email, then it worked, this was because the dealer removed my old car incorrectly!

My shop and internet radio now work. Two things I will never use.

Mine says "Activating" for about 5 minutes then throws up an error and thats about it for the shop
