I found the R to be softer in comfort. The RS is firmer (spring rate) but it’s still comfortable as the damping is better.

Fuel economy is not too bad if you are sensible - I did a 600 mile round trip to Newcastle recently and averaged 37 in efficiency mode and that included around half a dozen pulls from roundabouts etc but if I take it for a 20 mile blast with 10 miles driven relatively hard it returns around 20 mpg.

Mine is on PZeros but they are the R version and grip really well - I wanted the Bridgestones as they are the better tyre - Audi only fit the Potenza Sport and that tyre gets great reviews - definitely light years ahead of the S001!

What colour did you go for? And did you spec the buckets? Not sure that many pipeline stock cars will have the buckets.

I wasn't too fussy on colour, was prepared to go with Mythos Black, Kemora Grey, Daytona Grey or Ascari Blue. Could only find one Daytona coming on the system, but it's not built yet and discount wasn't great. In the end I got Mythos Black - standard spec (I prefer the simple black painted 5Y wheels) plus red calipers and Tech Pack Pro (all the assist stuff, fully electric chair Inc driver setting presets, Pano roof, 360 camera, self opening/closing boot). I didn't want to go over £59k and managed to get that for £57740 Inc a 2 year service pack. That's an £8470 saving Vs RRP on the car and the "£895" service pack.

There were Carbon spec cars for about £59-60k, but almost £4k over the standard spec for marginally more expensive wheels and carbon embellishments/spoilers seemed ridiculous - probably about £400 quids worth on Ali express, or maybe £1200s worth at the likes of APR/Racing line, so got the tech pack instead as the extra usable kit is better appreciated by me - your Vorsprung will have every conceivable bit of kit as standard though.

It's been a quiet quarter for sales in general, with both ends of month and end of quarter looming in 2 weeks, so big deals to be done and built stock available, with £1875 deposit contribution and a further "stock" contribution of £2400 on built/unallocated cars if bought before end of June, so there's almost £4300 discount before you even dig into the dealership's margin. Only downside is whopping 9.9% Apr if you rely on keeping the PCP, but the price and the APR is offset by excellent GFVs - my finance example is based on 4 years, with a GFV at that point of £34k.

VW trying to garner some sales this past weekend too with all sorts of incentives.
Sporty Golfs were £2k off from VW plus whatever dealer margin, £3k deposit contribution and 7.9%.
GFV’s around £15-20k (depending on trim level) less than the RS3 so goodness knows how the monthlies compare.
The next few years might be the last chance to get something like an RS3 brand new before we’re all in BYD Dolphins so any financial assistance in that direction has got to be welcome.

That "now or never" feeling and unprecedented levels of discount just about makes this ok. After having the Born depreciate £20k in 3 years (lucky someone bought the ID3 for £10k more than we paid for it back in 2022 to mitigate half that loss), I thought an RS3 would be a far more fun car to lose £600pm on in depreciation. It looks like Audi are aiming to make most of their money from the finance (£15k interest on a 4 year PCP!). I wonder when VAG will stop making cars like these, 2028/29? I honestly think the 2030 cutoff will be extended. No one is buying a new BEV with their own money - new sales are being propped up by salary sacrifice due to the abysmal residuals. I don't think that will change until we get radically better batteries we keep getting promised are coming "next year", and have been for the past 2 years. Solid state batteries with half the weight, no lithium or cobalt and a proper 400 mile winter range at motorway speeds, with a cheap and decent rapid charging network. 80p per kWh that'll only take you 2.5 miles in the Winter is expensive driving, especially when coupled with horrendous depreciation. A golf sized car is never going to handle great when it weighs almost 2 tonnes. I love the instant pickup of the born at a junction/roundabout, no brain fart by the gear box, but other than that, it's one dimensional driving.

Just bought my train ticket to Liverpool to pick up the car on Saturday, another reminder why we're all still in our cars - train ticket pricing is just odd. £50 for me to go, but £41 for me and my daughter with a friend and family Railcard I can't use by myself.

Took my S3 to the bid winning dealer from Carwow, which just so happened to be 6 miles from home. Car had minimal appraisal and full amount given with no tyre kicking. They are a "prestige" used car dealers in Newcastle, and noticed they had a 2022 RS3 on the forecourt, so asked if they could give me a lift home in it. The guy waited until he got on the coast road (national speed limit dual carriageway (which was empty, then hoofed it from 50 to 113mph and then straight back down to 70, very impressed, not that I would be taking it above 80.

Or is it all via email these days?

The car is pure white Clubsport with DCC and queenstown alloys.

VW no longer have an online tracker, so I’m assuming customers are reliant on updates from their dealer.

When I ordered mine last September, all updates until I received the car were via email at the different stages of the build process, up to and including the shipping.  They also provided an online portal with an overview of the car and the options I had chosen.

If you set up your car online through the VW connect portal, you can actually see some updates. You need the VIN though so it needs to have hit manufacturing.
Up to that I got all updates direct from the salesperson, and even after that, he was able to give me more detail than I got off the website.

Thanks for this. I have had a few emails and it got built 1st week of July and on the 6th to say it was all clear to leave the factory. Had another email today to say:-

Just a quick update to let you know that your new Golf GTI has now left our factory and is on its way to the UK.

So hoping that means it’s on a ship not just at the dock
