Your local TPS should be able to order them for you, some won't deal with the public though.

So fun update… could not source a new caliper plate from anywhere so decided to get some vinyl and “GTI” stickers and do it myself. Should’ve been a 20 min job to remove the wheel and the plate.

From what I understood, the plates should just pop off and may require gentle persuasion using a screw driver or trim removal tool. Exactly what I did and now my plate is in two pieces.

Didn’t take much for the plate to snap and no matter how I angle the screw driver, the plate won’t budge. In fact, it broke one of my screw drivers… I have a slight feeling that whoever owned it before may have glued them in place, as I’m sure it should not take this much force to remove them.

Any one got any advice on dealing with this? If it’s actually glued on, I may need to replace the whole caliper.

You can still buy the plates for the R and Cupra, I'd just buy them and paint them red.

Good luck getting a new plate, VW dealers told me last year that there are non available and VW are not making them anymore separate from a new PP caliper.

There appear to be some seat cupra plates on ebay- same part number. If you are repainting callipers and plates then you will get a perfect match. Need decals. Suggest you get just the letters as there is often a poor colour match if you get decals with red background. Good hunting.
Mk6 GTI Carbon Grey, 2010 Bluetooth and voice fitted, a few VCDS mods still a comfortable family car. Red Scirocco 2011 twin charger stage 1 - enjoyable drive now gone.  White 2016 Polo GTI (roller skate on steroids) replaced with an Indium Grey 2019 7.5 GTI PP.

Cheers folks. Well turns out that the plates are glued in. The only viable method of removal will be a complete caliper change. So instead I glue the piece back on and wrapped it using some reflective vinyl wrap. (If you’re ham fisted like myself, I recommend getting a professional to do it because it’s a nightmare…)

I’m expecting the wrap to peel and lift at some point, so while it was a fun experiment I’ll likely need to replace the caliper in the near future. A new one is going for around £260-280…

Good job. But vinyl wrap? Won't that come off as soon as the brakes get hot?

It’s a vinyl wrap designed for brake callipers and should easily withstand the temperatures. A friend of mine used the same wrap on his C63 AMG and it’s still going strong 6 months later!
