Thanks all for your replies. Its only cemented what my head was telling me and its nice that others see it the same way as me.

One of the reasons why I love the TCR is due to its rarity and having it as a weekend car is certainly a pinch moment.

Yep, its got the Akra on it, and whilst it doesn't give any more noise, it definitely looks better.

Cheers for all the opinions, greatly appreciated.

I would also keep the TCR I have currently got a mk8 which I like a lot,  last December has replaced my mk7.5 GTI 2018 performance that I owned from new traded at
 75 k miles.
I do a lot of miles and if I had been in your situation with company car I would have kept the 7.5 for years and TCR even better.
Keep the TCR great residuals and great better built than the mk8 imo.

Would also so CS privately as will go for way more than the dealer is offering.

Mine was the pure grey with the Akra, which matched the concept TCR release at Worthersee.

Never had chance to compare the Akra to the standard TCR set up in person, but videos of the standard set up demonstrated that note was decent and comparable to the Akra, which was very happy with and did give good overrun and occasional crack but on aesthetics alone they make the car, and as a plus, one wipe and they clean!

Got me missing my TCR now haha, thought had left that little bit of grieving behind :) am super happy with the 128Ti tho, so it has softened the blow,

As currently a CS owner I would keep the TCR.

Whilst I love the CS I have been without it for a total of three weeks in the 10 weeks of ownership I've had.

New steering wheel (eventually) sorted the the Emergency/Travel assist bongs and the Matrix lights finally fixed, coupled with the sh!t Mk8 GTI experience I had before.  The shine has been taken off it (for the time being at least).

I think the Akra noise might bring it back into favour but not a great experience of the 8.

Update for you all.

I collected the car on Monday and after driving it a short while have decided that I am indeed going to sell it.

Great car, and the ultra modern tech is lovely, but there is just something about how a TCR drives/makes me feel that is a cut above. Can't quite put my finger on it but if anyone is keen on a lovely Kings Red CS, hit up the guys at Ben Hodgson Cars as they will be advertising it shortly.

Cheers all again for your input. Now time to make the TCR even more special.

I would have done the same in your position. Hope you enjoy your TCR for many years to come.

Yup, drove lovely and for me would have been a better daily over the TCR but I don't need a daily so TCR it was.

It left me on Thursday and I haven't missed it so definitely made the right decision.

The biggest surprise of the whole thing is how much it is listed for now...£50k.

Well you can't buy any performance golf at the moment... Not even put your name down for one in two years time...

So it's going to worth a lot as "delivery mileage only"
Current: Mk8 GTI DSG, Adelaides, DCC, HUD, HK, Winter Pack, Rear Camera.. Aka "HMS Weasel"

Strange how you feel on cars, you get invested and feel something is hard to let go, but once made the decision, other car is not in sight, and in something else appreciate, you soon move on, and in your case, the extra ££ will look nice in the account and your driving experience is still a fulfilling one, and looking at TCR prices, they are still holding strong.

It would have cost me £16k extra to keep the TCR as second car, that money now looks better in the bank.

I could imagine you getting over the initial newness of the MK 8, seeing a TCR and having huge doubts, so 100% best decision.
