235 vs 225 19' Tyres
« on: 09 May 2023, 15:42 »
Going to be needing to replace the stock tyres on my Reifnitz wheels on the TCR. Ive been running 18's but wanting to put the stock wheels back on.

My other half has a 500 mile old set of 225/35/19 tyres that were fitted to her Focus ST aftermarket wheels. The TCR wheels as standard come with 235/35/19's. The only differences I can see are the 225 vs 235.

Could anyone please give me some insight into the differences and whilst I drive the car, I never push it to the limit so will it really make any difference.

Thanks

According to the 2013 brochure cars with 19 inch Santiago had 8 inch rims and 235 tyres.
From sometime in 2014 and later brochure the Santiagos were changed to 7.5 rims and 225 tyres.

Santiagos were always 7.5” wide, the brochure was wrong which is far from unusual.

You’d have to inform your insurer if fitting 225 tyres to 8” wide Reifnitz, and they’d provide fractionally less kerb protection than 235’s plus the Speedo would be out a minimal amount…
