The bongs are back (sos, travleasist l, ect) happens just like thay used to , anyone know if a replaced part has individual warranty and if so how long for and failing that how much is this going to cost to assuming ££££, also had the puddle lights fail one replaced a year or 2 ago then the others just gone. 21 reg mk8

Any help is appreciated

Parts that have been replaced under the 3 year Factory Warranty are covered for the remainder of the Factory Warranty; they don’t have an individual warranty.

This is from the Factory Warranty terms and conditions;

Replacement parts warranty
All Volkswagen Original replacement parts carry a parts warranty for a period of 2 years/unlimited mileage, from the date of purchase. Items with warranties in excess of 2 years will be advised to you at the time of purchase. The 2 year parts warranty does not apply to parts fitted under the terms of the vehicle warranty, which are warranted for the remaining period of the vehicle warranty. Fair wear and tear items covered by replacement parts warranty are subject to the same limitations as for new cars as detailed above.

Which has always sounded a bit crazy if you apply it to an extreme example - say you had a new engine fitted under your new car warrantee the week before it ran out - that would effectively mean a brand new engine had only 7 days warrantee on the parts and the fitting....

There doesn't seem to be any recognition that there is a chance a defective new part might be fitted in the warrantee period.

Look at the T&Cs it does say if you're warranty or extended warranty has lapsed within 30 days then you can't make a claim within the next thirty days. So maybe take it out then claim after 30 days, or maybe a bit more to avoid any hassle.

Came back on here to see if it was happening to anyone else.  My bongs are back before and after the software update that wiped my settings.  Front assist, travel assist, SOS, plus a newish one of "Data not available" popping up.   Mine is also a 21 plate.

I'm on an extended warranty for a couple more months and car is in for service and MOT next month and asked for this to be looked at.
