Sad day….
« on: 20 November 2022, 11:30 »
Well that sad day is nearly here. As my new Tiguan will be collected on Friday next week, I put the GTI up for Sale on Motorway, and it sold straight away. My reserve was £21k and it sold for £23.3k. Based on the price I paid for the car nearly 5 years ago, that means it’s retained an incredible 76% of its original purchase price in 5 years on a brand new car !! That’s insane.

So the company that’s purchased the GTI will be collecting it next Thursday 24th. It will be a very sad day as it’s been a brilliant car and was my 4th Golf on the trot and my 3rd MK7/7.5 model. With my 60th birthday looming next year, just thought it was time for a change whilst I can still afford it. I’ll still be popping in as I like this forum (and let’s be honest the MQB Tiguan’s still share a lot with the Golf platform), and will post up some photos when it arrive.

Off to give the GTI one more clean.  :(

A parting shot (taken a few days after collection)

You are one year older than me and someone would have to prise my GTI keys from my cold, grey, dead fingers before I parted with it, it will be my first and last as I’ve just retired and do so few miles now.
Good luck with the Tiguan, my BIL has had one for over 3 years and it’s been flawless👍

Someone will be very fortunate when they buy your GTI Sootchucker, it’s got to be one of the most well looked after examples.
No harm in fancying a change and the Tiguan is a handsome car with lots of familiarity as well as the differences.
We look forward to hearing all about your new car in due course.

If it had been a performance pack I would have jumped on this. In the market for a mint 7.5 PP or TCR.
Hope you enjoy your new Tiguan Sootchucker.

Sad times as your gti was what made me buy mine when I saw it on DetailingWorld, but luckily the Tiguans are a fantastic car in a different way and you won’t be disappointed.

Hope you enjoy it mate.

My 60th is looming too this coming April and only health reasons will see me leaving the marque. The Mrs is now complaining
about getting in and out of the GTI so I pointed out the bus stop.
