My sister in law has a 2015 Golf R and the silica bag has ripped in the coolant system causing £1000 damage to the car, does the GTi have one at all? ive looked in the coolant top up but cant see one?

Recommend remove the bag or replace the expansion tank, I did the latter.

Or to save money and do at zero cost remove the old expansion tank, then remove the Silicate bag (rinse it out if it rip)s then replace the old tank. No need to buy a new tank when it isn't needed. Only lose a litre of coolant at most so top up with water.

And remember to rub out "MIT SILIKAT" so that the next owner doesn't come on here panicking about having no SILIKAT in their MIT SILIKAT

Have you just had a feel around or have you siphoned the coolant out??
I thought mine had been taken out because I couldn't feel or see it until I siphoned the coolant out.
