It’ll just take China to have a pop at Taiwan and the chip supply will dry up somewhat more!

Just imagine next year’s mk8 special edition “1983” chip free model.
You want aircon - you wind a window down
You want to wind a window down - you crank it with a handle
You need internal mirror adjustment - you toggle a knob connected to a cable
You want ABS brakes - you get a printout tutorial on cadence braking
You want power steering - you get a mechanical pulley system driven off the crank
You want a trick front diff - you order a Quaiffe from DemonTweeks and get your mate Dave who owns a lock up garage to fit it, cash in hand
Oh, and in celebration to 1983 - just one years warranty as that’s all we had back then!
CarPlay? Pah!! Not a chance, not even a screen fitted.
Haptics? No steering wheel features at all.
‘25 8.5R, ‘23 8R, ‘20 8CS, ‘19 135iX, ‘19 TCR, ‘17 Ed40, ‘17 GTD, ‘15 7R, ‘13 GTI PP, ‘11 GTI, ‘09 GTI, ‘98 Ibiza Cupra, ‘05 GTI, ‘06 Polo GTI, ‘04 GT TDI, ‘05 Fabia vRS, ‘02 GTI T, ‘03 Ibiza TDI 130, ‘01 Leon 180, ‘89 mk2 16v, ‘99 Ibiza TDI, ‘96 VR6, ‘98 Ibiza TDI, ‘92 VR6, ‘88 mk2 8v, ‘92 Polo G40, ‘91 mk2 8v, ‘89 mk2 8v, 205 GTI 1.9, ‘83 mk1 GTI, ‘80 Scirocco GTI, plus some others I’ve forgotten

Pretty much describes my OH's Lupo perfectly! Strange as it drives just fine and has been incredibly reliable over it's 20 years with us...

Is it all Golf variations that have crystal ball wait times or are some versions easier to get hold of than others does anyone know?
The Clubsport thread here shows how bad that model is for estimated build weeks, Stretts, you’re showing the regular GTI is just as bad still. Does anyone follow the R forum to see how that model fares?
Trev if you’re around, do you have a date for your 20 Years Edition? I did see in the blurb that the spec was to be built alongside regular R’s and won’t queue jump.

There are forum members over on golfmk8.com who are experiencing (or have experienced) similar wait times for a mk8 Golf R Line compared to the wait times for a performance Golf. Over on VWROC.com, some forum members have been waiting around two years for a mk8 R. The Hartman Kardon audio upgrade seems to be a common theme where there are excessively long wait times - suggests that maybe HK have semiconductor supply issues.

It’s not just VW and the Golf - similar wait times being reported by forum members for the Seat Leon, Cupra Leon and Cupra Formentor over on seatcupra.net forum.

And I thought an eight month wait for my mk6 GTD back in 2011 was bad .

No date for my R20 yet.  I also still have an 8R on order from November 2021 and that has no build week either.  On the R forum some members cars are just arriving this week, 2 years after ordering!

That’s just plain greedy Trev!

Thanks for the info though and it’s interesting to see the cars are eventually arriving and the orders not just falling into a black hole.

Won't be keeping both!  Probably won't be keeping either if they don't sort out the software problems.
