Clutch delay valve

Hi guys

Just wondered what the thoughts were on doing the clutch delay valve removal?

I have a uprated clutch set up on my car and a lot of posts ive seen across the internet is that its a must to remove delay valve to help better flow to the pedal

Vag sport do a aluminium block thats already got it deleted and was possibly think about getting that and they also do a braided clutch line

What do u guys think??

Just take the valve out, that's free and easily reversible if you don't like it. One I didn't get around to. Taking the assistor spring off is worthwhile but the best and easiest I found was a bump stop for the clutch pedal. About £10ish on ebay, they reduce the pointless travel of the pedal. For me it also mean't getting a more comfortable position of the seat whilst still being able to fully depress the pedal. I'd also recommend adding an Audi short shift from a TT/S3.

Yeah that is a another money Free option to just take the bit out thats in the standard part

Havent done the clutch stop, but i have removed the spring from the back of the clutch pedal

Am running a quickshift on the car which defo makes a nice bit of difference

I'd also recommend adding an Audi short shift from a TT/S3.

@Watts Did you find this made the gearshift a bit "heavy or stiff" until it (the gearbox oil) had warmed up??

It definitely made things firmer, more mechanical but I wouldn't say stiff. I really liked it.

Your ED40 may have it fitted as standard. I'd check first, the difference is not too difficult to see but you would need to remove the airbox. You can tell by the position of the upright post at the end of the lever. The post on the short shift is more inboard.

Ahh yes i can see the difference, thanks, i'll have to take a look.

The word used to describe the feeling came to me on the way to work this morning - "notchy" when cold??

My MK2 had a short shift on and i found it to be a bit "notchy" when cold.
