Hot air from vents when HVAC switched off

Evening all.

When I have the climate control switched off, really hot air seeps into the cabin from the two face level vents on either side (not the centre two). Closing the vents helps but it still seems to come in. It doesn't always do it but often enough. At times I've had to put the aircon on to stop it even with the sunroof open!

I've read about the HVAC system reset which I'll try next time I'm out in the car, but has anyone else noticed this and will a reset of the flaps fix it?

Nothing to lose by trying a reset.

Got access to VCDS??, could point to a motor, which actuates the flaps, problem.

Could be the motor packed up, or actuating arm come adrift, stripped teeth on actuating gear??

Thanks madstaff. Unfortunately not but I could always get a garage to have a look. It's been doing it for a very long time but I keep forgetting about it! I suspect it's not a motor fault as once switched on it all works well. It seems to me as if the flaps that should close to stop the hot air out when it's switched off are settling in the wrong position. Will keep my fingers crossed that a reset sorts it.

Oh well, the recalibration did it's thing but hasn't made any difference. I'll just have to go with the simple approach and close the vents...

I find a bit of warm gets through mine even with the heating off as well.

However if you turn the heater on, set the temperature lower and then put it back off the air coming through is cooler.

Same thought, always leave air con on.
