New Clutch Recommendations
« on: 13 October 2022, 16:09 »
Seems like the slave cylinder is leaking inside the gearbox so makes sense to maybe change the clutch at the same time while its out.

We are running a stage 1 map and whilst we have no clutch slip can anyone recommend which is a decent make to put back in?

Thanks

I have the Sachs SRE clutch kit installed in my gti stage 1. Little firmer than stock but a great clutch. No more slip after fitting. I also replaced the release bearing. The flywheel was in good condition so nothing done there

I would avoid RTS. The twin friction set up sounds great however the one they sent me looked as though it had been manufactured at home and hand sprayed with black paint. It was fitted with the correct alignment tool and juddered from day one. Taking it apart and one of the rivets was proud and had scoured the flywheel - hence the judder.

Now I may have just been plain unlucky but I don't think so.  Instead I just fitted a new Sachs clutch and flywheel fitted
for the Golf R to my lowly but still very entertaining manual standard 220 bhp GTI. Should last for many miles.

Just my experience.

Can anyone recommend a standard clutch, does the Golf R clutch fit?

It will fit but is almost just as weak as the GTi one so will slip if mapped. It has slightly higher torque limits but not by much. Go aftermarket
