I was reading an advert of a black Clubsport S the other day and it said "We purchased this car brand new and put it into storage where it's been ever since", HowManyLeft is saying 60 of them are currently SORN and 75 actively being used, so 15 are unaccounted for so are probably for sale.
Just car speculators got hold of them and that was that, much like any model with heritage and something special about it. If it helps looks at what they want for Focus RS' both £80k-£85k, although these are extremes.
I know the very ad. I actually called about that car as I have been toying with the idea of doing a go round. It supplies on the original tyres at that price. Six year old PCS2 tyres will grip a treat! Yeah, speculators tend to treat specials as an alternate asset class but these cars can develop problems, particularly if left fuelled and not 'exercised'. They're resolvable of course but there is no mechanical sympathy, just park and profit.
I keep an eye on prices as I have an agreed value policy on mine and the insurer mumbled something about needing a tracker if the market goes over £50k.
The asking prices for a Focus RS are utterly insane. Can't say I keep up with fast Fords but I know they have a following but that much money is nuts. You're in modern Porsche GT cars and McLarens at that point.
