Right now Ebay are running a 20% off discount from some sellers such as Aceparts and Carpartsinmotion. (code HOT20)

You can pick up a set of textar 340mm Discs and the correct Textar pads for around £150 all in. (Discs £110 the pair, pads £40)

A pair of juratek 340mm discs is £64 at Carpartsinmotion

TRW pads £29 at Carpartsinmotion

I know not everyone likes buying stuff through ebay, but it is a lot cheaper than Autodoc or Eurocarparts for the exact same items, and most of the time the after sales service is better.

My 2016 GTi PP was in for a service 2 weeks ago and I was advised that front and rear discs and pads ideally needed doing.  41k miles.  I’d say it was still on original discs.

£610.18 quoted by the VW dealer for the fronts and £372.33 for the rears.

I’ve just done the fronts myself today.  Parts cost me £146.98, so a saving of £463.20 😊

I am going to a local VW indy for the rears @ £275.  I don’t have the vagcom or equiv to sort the Piston retraction myself.

You can perform a read brake handbrake retraction for read pad change using Carista. 1 month subscription is £12, or you can buy the adaptor with 1 month subscription for £18.75 on Amazon.

Did you buy the parts from VW or somewhere else?  Cracking saving right there

I doubt they are from VW for that price, more like from Euro Car Parts or ebay??

Correct, discs and pads are both Pagid’s from Euro Car Parts.  I’ve had good experience with Pagid’s before (some bad experiences with warping Brembos on my prev. Bora) so was happy to give them a chance.

Had to replace front discs and pads at 47k, just ordered same for the rear. Went for RTS performance dimpled and grooved discs with EBC yellow stuff pads front and pads from VW on rear. All in £620 in parts, more than I wanted to spend but the discs look great.

Front pads done, but was told rear pads are 70% worn and to change in next 3 months!! Can’t believe they wear so quickly!! What is the brake bias or reason for high wear?

Autos tend to wear brakes more quickly than manual cars in my experience, the higher wear on the rears is likely to be stability control related where the brakes will be activated during fast cornering to pinch the discs in order to maintain body control.
That’s my suspicion anyway.

Rear brakes on a Mk7/7.5 are mostly due to using ACC.
