@Domster; great outcome. Hopefully you’ve been provided with that assurance in writing. Interesting that VW have agreed to pay the luxury VED for 4 years when it actually applies for 5 years from the date the second year’s VED is due (i.e. years 2 - 6 inclusive). From HM Gov website;
Vehicles with a list price of more than £40,000
You have to pay an extra £335 a year if you have a car or motorhome with a ‘list price’ (the published price before any discounts) of more than £40,000. You do not have to pay this if you have a zero emission vehicle.
You only have to pay this rate for 5 years (from the second time the vehicle is taxed).
I’m assuming that the luxury VED levy also increases year on year in the same way as the standard rate of VED seems to. Therefore, I’d also be asking that any written confirmation from VW states that they agree to pay the luxury VED for five years at the rate prevailing at the time rather than specifically stating an amount of £335 per year so they also cover any future increases in the luxury VED rate.
If they don’t agree to this, at least they’re making a significant contribution, which is a result!
