Nice one jaceyboy  :cool: good to see you tested one in a decent colour too  :laugh:
Do I take it the R has lots of proper exhaust noise?
I actually quite like the standard R interior, but I’m weird and like the Clubsport side stickers too, and you should hear my musical tastes  :lipsrsealed:

But yeah, neither would be as much fun to drive as a modded mk7 which doesn’t have door cards that feel like they share the same plastic as a Crafter van’s. But to be fair, after the first week you take zero notice of the interior plastics and reserve your wrath for the infotainment system’s erratic blips.

The R has much more of a deep burble, and pops much deeper ones than the CS, I would imagine with an aftermarket exhaust or even a res delete it would sound very good, amazing really for a 2.0 4 pot engine.

The CS exhaust note is nice too though, I would say almost on par with our res delete GTi, im sure once you own the car the interior is lost and you drive it :grin:

Spectrum paint colours aren’t cheap - cost was US $2,500 on 2019 model year cars so it might cost more than that now. Each to their own, but there’s no way I’d be paying that for a paint colour on a Golf.

That’s been going for a few years. Like Audi Exclusive. You can get it in Germany too. Or could in the last gen.
Current: Clubsport45, white, DCC.

Past: Mk5 gti blue graphite, mk6 gti carbon grey, mk6 gti edition 35 candy white, Mk7 pp gti tornado red, 2016 Audi S3 sportback, 2019 7.5 Golf R.

I think it might have been possible as a special bespoke order some years ago, but I don’t think you can now. If you could, I’m sure it would’ve been discussed on the forum, and maybe one or two forum members would’ve done it.

Back in 2011 there was a custard yellow mk6 GTI on VW’s website for sale. Link to the discussion thread below;

It's just the colours are so drab. Kings red instead of tornado is about as bright as it gets. It's one thing that's putting me off the mk8. Not everyone's taste i am sure but I like the blue the m135 is in, hence the question. There is the photo somewhere of the mustard colour the normal golf comes in on a gti I think it is. Again not my taste perhaps buts it's a bit brighter

I agree actually.

I moaned about the poor choice of colours for UK mk7's... And it's only got worse.

Mind you, at least now Germany is in line, on the mk7 they had dozens more colours plus pick your own. Now it's identical.

I also don't like KR much either. It's gone from tornado, a classic gti colour, to metallic red like a Peugeot... And then charge you top whack for it....as opposed to tornado red being dirt cheap on the mk7.
Current: Mk8 GTI DSG, Adelaides, DCC, HUD, HK, Winter Pack, Rear Camera.. Aka "HMS Weasel"

Gone: 2017 Mk7.5 GTD,manual, NavPro
Gone: 2014 Mk7 GTD, manual, NavPro, DCC
