The green light I go through is a pedestrian crossing. The cars joining the slip road from the right are traffic light controlled. You both join the slip road together as per the video but are meant to stick to your lane... I think there are solid white lines to start with which have long faded

You should really report those faded lines to your local highways. I wouldn't be happy driving that way regularly with insanely faded road lines like that, it's just an accident waiting to happen.
So many roads I drive are neglected and not regularly inspected. I report a lot of things

No, I got it from eBay

Make sure to get some picture up on here after you've fitted it . Certainly looks like a very good dashcam compared to most available. I think I'd recommend that if anyone asks me about getting one in the future

I went with the Viofo A119 v3 in the end. Managed to get a bundle deal including the GPS mount, memory card, hardwire kit and polarized lens for a pretty decent price.

Does anyone know which size 'add a fuse' the Golf takes? I think it might be mini but I'm not sure.

Is this the Amazon deal Ryan? I've been considering a dashcam myself after a crash (non fault) at xmas.

No, I got it from eBay. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/293430932538

If you buy through topcashback you'll save another 3%

Thanks Ryan

It should be here today but I need to get myself some auto electrical tools and I need to read up on how to install it.

I'm still undecided on where to mount it but I'll have a play when it arrives. Once it's installed I'll put some pictures up and upload some sample footage too.

Wish me luck on the install, I'm going to need it.

Yeah good luck. I didn’t have the stomach for doing front and rear so paid for VW to do at same time as service as I always mess stuff up like that 🤦🏻‍♂️🤣

I don't know if it's because I'm getting older (30) and tighter (I am from Yorkshire after all) but the amount of times I've paid good money for a service and come away disappointed with the quality that I'd rather take my time and do it myself.

I'm fussy and have a 'if you want things done right, do it yourself' attitude

There's plenty of videos on YouTube to help if you do get stuck. The most important thing is to make sure you install the piggyback fuse adapter the right way round otherwise it won't work (not sure which hardwire kit you went for, not sure if that'll apply if you're connecting it directly to the battery). If you need to hide any excess cable the end trim panel on the passenger side which houses the air bag switch literally clips on and off. Keep it far away from the air bag cables for obvious reasons, but there's plenty of space around there.

Got this installed today... I may have sworn a fair few thousand times but it's in, it's working, parking mode is working and the car hasn't blown up (yet).

I'm a bit disappointed with the positioning as I couldn't put it centrally due to the plastic housing not being flat so had to put it to the left of the rear view mirror. Like I feared initially there is a small blind spot but there's nothing I could've done - I'll see how I get on with it, the main reason for going for the Viofo was the superior image quality over the compact Garmin Dashcam Mini.

I'd like to say never again to dashcam fitting but I've stupidly volunteered to help my dad install his 😑

Nicely done.

Only issue I remember having was not being able to fully remove the a pillar trim with the dynaudio tweeter in so pulled it far enough away to run the cables. Otherwise pretty straight forward.

My thinkware is to the left side of the mirror too and it's ok there tbf.
