Just FYI, I activated my We Connect for my new Mk8 with basic nav today.

I've got 3 years of guide and inform included.

So that's another thing we can cross off of what NavPro offers.
is nav pro not lifetime instead of three years?

No idea on the Mk8 - on the Mk7.5 I can tell you it was 3 years, because mine has stopped working.

i'm starting to lose patience with my local dealer.....
9 days after reporting the issue, they finally reply to my email.
I get that businesses are stretched at the moment but 9 days?!

They now say that some cars do it and some cars don't - no sh!t sherlock!
Would it not make you question WHY some do it and some don't rather than just pass on your incompetent knowledge to the customer that has just spent £35k?!
Muppets.

I find forum users always have more knowledge than the "experts" so i'll put it out there.....
when in the Nav screen and looking at the settings, there is a "show map in cluster" option
heres a pict of the car in the showroom.....

Heres a pict of mine...

I've also had an email from VW Customer Services asking me if I'm enjoying my new car and how I found the dealer...… I enjoyed replying to that one!! ha

Its not so much the fact that something isn't working that's annoying me, these things happen, its the blasé responses from the dealer about it.
Ive had a few other issues with the car but i wont bore you with them too - i got the same lackluster response to them aswell :-(
I'm glad to say, I've not been in this position before so please excuse my ignorance… would a different dealership "take on" a car that they didnt sell?
MK8 GTi: Adelaide 19", DCC, Winter Pack, Rear Camera and sh!t loads of software issues! ;-)

I can't seem to see your pictures...

However from everything I have read, you need software version 1788 for the nav in dash to be enabled.

It seems 1788 is/was being shipped with newer cars but I don't think anyone on here with a Mk8 yet has it.

Yes you are able to take your VW to any VW franchised dealership and have them work warranty claims for you.

Some dealers are far better than others but remember this is all brand new to them all, there is a lot more software about the Mk8 than any VW before it and I have no doubt the spanner slingers are maybe finding it technically challenging like my mother does with a Zoom call....

i completely understand that but their comment of "some do and some dont" without any kind of explanation annoyed me - maybe its just me.
When it went back for the other issues to be looked at, i was told "we dont know anything about these cars, its all a learning curve" - again, i kinda agree with what they mean but surely its not what they should be saying to someone thats just spent £35k with them!

Unfortunately a new product will be a learning curve.... they are not lying when they say that.

When the Mk7 came out, one of the things the dealerships eventually learnt was that you needed to take out the transfer pucks from the suspension before handing it over (transfer pucks are plastic blocks jammed into the suspension to stop the car bouncing around on the transporter...it stops the suspension moving).

And then they learnt how to update the software on the infotainment system because the early ones used to crash and freeze...

And so on...
