E-Acca
« on: 14 January 2021, 11:32 »
I was wondering if anyone has expedience a significant increase in costs from E-Acca

I placed an order for a couple of parts as recommended by Golfdave (Thanks again for your guides) being the aero guards for the rear suspension and the front exhaust cover for the princely sum of around 45 euros which I didn't think too bad all things considered for a couple of pieces of plastic.

I then get an email the other day asking me to pay an extra 43 euros for shipping! No mention of this at checkout etc....

I responded saying sorry should have been told this at the time of purchase and to cancel the order, to which they said sorry its in the T's & C's pay up (to paraphrase)

I have looked high and low and cannot find the T's & C's so may well just have to cough up, but not happy

Just a heads up folks, but I will certainly be looking at somewhere else to buy from in the future.

I bought parts off them on the suggestion of others on this site (which I still haven’t fitted) and the postage was included in the cost up front. However, the delivery time was woeful. It took six weeks, twice the time estimate. 🙁

I suspect this is due to BREXIT. As of Jan the 1st BREXIT now means we are an independent trading country outside of EU VAT/import/export rulea.

With that in mind anything imported into the UK from a EU retailer now attracts 'third country levy' and 'VAT' to be applied to the base pre EU VAT € cost

These 2 levies are processed by the shipping company who will also charge a processing fee of circa 2% (with a minimum value of around £10-15 per transaction.

:)

Yep, I regularly buy small items from Germany and since the 31/12 postage costs have in some instances tripled!

Now the postage costs are more than the item itself.

I really hope we don't go the same way as post from the US where various costs might have to be paid before pick up.

It'll depend on the shipping company, because it's them (not the retainer) who handle the 3 charges. I buy a lot of sneakers and I had a package held by UPS last week until the costs had been paid, before they would release it to me. Where as FedEX sent me a bill after I'd taken delivery.

I was going to buy some new alloys for my car early this year from a European based company. However, because of the Brexit situation, I bought them early (end of November / beginning of December) as I anticipated they’d probably cost more from this month, due to the imposition of additional taxes and levies. Additionally, they might also have been delayed with the extra admin procedures / form filling and customs checks that companies are having to deal with.

Seems it was the right decision to buy early .

Thanks for the link. I tried to look it up but what a cr@p site, amazingly for gov.uk  If that's what importers face we're doomed!

I'll just have to wait and see.

I bought the damper from then and shipping was included upfront as well, hence a little peeved to get this demand to pay the shipping, I am half minded not to bother and see what happens, as far as I was concerned deal was done upon initial purchase.
