I don’t envy you having to remove that wrap!
The Ateca is a nice car, a colleague of mine ran one for a couple of years and it did him good service. No bongs!

The wrap was a pain, but still only took about an hour.
Just worked out,because of a good trade in price….the gti cost me £27.85 a week,for nearly 2 1/2 years.
Cheap motoring that!

I’d imagine my Clubsport has cost me double that despite a heavy discount and a light right foot!
I’ll have to keep mine until I’m 80 just to get my money’s worth out of it, at least I’ll be too deaf to hear the bonging by then…

Don't worry Exonian my CS lease costs me £100 a week, which would be even higher if I hadn't got in prior to the price increases.  Of course, it would be a lot lower if I'd gone for a PCP with buoyant used car prices but hindsight is a wonderful thing and I'd be a millionaire if I'd bought London property or Apple shares too.

Decontaminated my wheels, washed and used Gyeon Wetcoat on them. The wheels have a matt finish and the Wetcoat has lifted their appearance a bit. For the OCD amongst you I know the centres are upside down and the valve is not at the bottom. Tyre shine to follow.

To be honest I haven’t noticed a difference but when cleaning today I realised it’s time to put my Adelaide 19s with Bridgestone Potenza S005s back on. As much for a change and comparison as anything else. I’ve forgotten what the S005s were like as I changed to the Michelins in November or December. I seem to remember they lost traction easily and were prone to wheel spin on a quick take off. The Michelins rarely do that. I just went out to my garage and confirmed what the exact tyres are on the Adelaide’s. They are a nice wheel too.

I remember watching a video some years ago where one of the chassis engineers for the Ed40 said how good the Bridgestones were. The thing is they developed the chassis on track and the heat suited the Bridgestones whereas we mere mortals that drive more slowly on lukewarm potholed tarmac tend to disagree!
The Adelaides are very nice looking wheels indeed.
Unusually I spotted a Golf R on Adelaides the other day and they suited it really well.

Didn't like the bog standard plastic numberplate so got pressed plates, and fashioned some oem vw black surrounds with some ClubSport vinyl bootlid stickers to finish both front and back off. Not a fan of no clubsport motifs (ive also got the side graphic delete) and wasn't keen on putting the sticker under the gti badge, so I'm really pleased with the finish

Prepared my Adelaides to put them back on for the better weather. Used Bilt Hamber Kerrosol to remove the iron fall out, washed them, tar remover, then panel wipe, then C5 Wheel Armour ceramic coating. I’ll fit them on Wednesday.

Read and watched reviews and I've decided to go for the........Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 6 - currently £111 fitted at Kwik fit with 10% off if you order two before midnight.  I'll let you know how they compare to the current Potenza S005's.

Here's my update:  Overall I'm pleased with the feel of the Goodyears and they are noticeably quieter than the Potenza, although I've only had a couple of long motorway drives and nothing too spirited.  I'd also caveat that I've still got Potenzas on the rear.  I'll certainly be going for Goodyears again when those are replaced in 8-10k miles.   Great value and a very good drive.

They also got another great review yesterday from the best review site I know:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TQsWlZoh55U
