So, just to offset any confusion on my part. After reading the posts above and checking VWs website, my car is coming up to 2 years of age in December and i have the Inchcape VW fixed service plan. The first service last December was a minor service and i have the second service booked in for this coming December (12,000 miles) which according to the service plan paperwork is also a minor service meaning the first major service should be at 3 years of age...is this correct please?
The Inchcape VW fixed service plan may be different to the official VW service plan. Under the VW service plan, cars are serviced under the fixed (time and distance) service regime and you get two services; a minor service (essentially an oil and filter change) and a major service (oil, oil filter and inspection).
Inchcape’s website promotes the official VW service plans which suggests this is what you have, in which case your forthcoming service is the major one (oil+filter change+inspection).
https://www.inchcape.co.uk/volkswagen/service-and-repair/service-plans/The first embedded video at the link above gives an overview of what you get (I’m assuming you bought your service plan before your car had its first service).
If you’re planning on keeping your car longer term and continuing to get it serviced within the VW dealer network, you can buy a new service plan when you’ve used the two services under the original plan. It’s more expensive, but I think it still works out a little cheaper than paying for each service individually.
