They do look really good, far better than a single colour.   I wonder what Brecias done the same way would look like?  Anyone tempted to do theirs?

I’ve seen Brescia’s in one colour which was gunmetal. They looked ok, but they lost all the detail and the Brescia design you get with diamond cut.

Just had a look on eBay there’s black fake 18in Pretoria’s for £500 wonder how they would look on a black GTi.

Not 18” but here’s a black GTI Clubsport with Black 19” Pretoria’s which will show you what black on black looks like;

A few folk on here use this site for replicas

The CM Wheels replica Prets are also popular with owners over on VWROC.com. Both the 18” and 19” versions are available in Gunmetal and Silver as well as black;

Here is my black GTI with 19” gloss black Prets if you want to see. IMO 18” will look too small, especially if you go for gloss black

The reps will weigh more than the real ones, so just bear that in mind. Also the reps don’t come in the correct OEM VW blue chrome if that also bothers you

Thanks yours certainly look very good.

Not sure I’d want to invest in a new set of tyres as well as I have 4 recently bought Dunlop’s. maybe will just price up the refurb or just leave as is and trade it in.

These look great and are a brilliant solution to the diamond cut issues. Been pondering the alloys issue myself this week. They need sorted and there is a company locally who do a fantastic job on diamond cut refurbishment but it be honest I'm thinking of putting reps on. CM wheels are again, local to me so either the darker Prets or the Brescias are on my list. Just can't decide which to go for....

My Santiago’s powder coated,

They look great! :cool: No issues with white worm and IMO the way they should have been from the factory - or at least a factory fit option.

I remember seeing pictures on another forum of gunmetal/ anthracite powder coated Nogaro alloys on a GTD that also look really good.

I had them done last year, think it’s smoked chrome,
So much easier to live with than diamond cut

Sorry to hijack the thread, I've managed to curb an alloy after owning the car for a week. Is a full diamond cut the best option? Does powder coating offer much more protection?

It doesn't offer any more protection against st curbing, but easier to rectify when it happens. Those tyres you have offer mo lip protection.

In your situation I'd be asking how likely you are to curb again. Refurbish a single diamond cut alloy will be cheaper than having them all powder coated. Curb 2 or 3 though and it's a different story.
Whey ya bugger! It's finally arrived after an 8 month wait....

A powder coated finish is more durable than a diamond cut finish, especially if the car is used as a daily driver; diamond cut wheels when subjected to salt and the roads during the winter months often succumb to white worm corrosion. However, as said, powder coating won’t offer any more protection against kerbing.

Whether you get that single wheel refurbished in the existing diamond cut finish or all four wheels powder coated, I’d certainly consider fitting some better tyres that have good rim protection. It’d also give you a good reason to get rid of those budget Chinese Jinyu (ditchfinder) tyres that have been fitted on your car - IMO not the best tyre to have on a Golf GTI Performance.
