Howdy. Am after a 7.5 indium grey, DSG, 5 door, 18” wheels. (Low mileage, history, perfect condition, etc. )

I’ve just reserved a Gti after months of searching and keeping an eye on the market.
I thought it would be in tatters after lockdown and i’d be able to get a real bargain-I couldn’t have been more wrong.
When I first contacted the dealer i’ve reserved with,I was told there would be no movement whatsoever-cash or finance, they weren’t bothered-it concluded with the car buying equivalent of a Mexican standoff.
A week of sleepless nights and daily checks to see if it was still for sale later,i crumbled.
The guy I spoke to said it was crazy-sold 19 cars in 2 days.
Just had a good laugh tho,he’s sent me 3 options to pay-cash,pcp and hp,he’s cheekily added Gardx and wheelguard to the invoice-combined cost......£1200.
You can get the full Gardx kit off eBay for £10-20-i’ve politely refused and asked him to amend the invoice.

Might be worth waiting until everyone has been back at work for 3 months to see car prices settle down and the flow of used metal to start moving again as people chop in their used Golf GTI MK7s for BMW135 as the MK8 is so ugly!

I tell you what, the M135 might be better built, and it might be a bit prettier, but I've seen a couple mk8's now and (whisper it quietly) they're actually not quite as bad as you'd think in the flesh.
They have some unfortunately harsh angles and the interior is probably Skoda or even Peugeot (without the latter's flair) but...

Just saying!

Unfortunately it was the same after the production delays with the WLTP testing fiasco. There ended up a shortage of fresh car supply and prices buoyed significantly.
It'll be medium to longer term we will see how the market goes once this is all settled.
Right now it's supply and demand and the demand is outweighing the supply.

Haven't posted on here for a good while but have still followed over the last few years.
I managed to pick up an ex-demo 20 plate TCR at the weekend and after speaking to a few dealers, there were definitely deals to be done (also got a used T-Roc for my wife from a different dealer).
Was a completely different collection experience though, with all the distancing measures in place. Took less than 30mins in both instances!
