Thanks all so far it’s much appreciated! What does the pedal box do compared to chipping?

The same difference as putting the car into Sport mode from normal  - the fly by wire throttle mapping is changed.

Only the pedal box can give you more zoom that just OEM sport mode.

No extra power though, its just throttle response.

Still insurance notifiable though.

You could probably buy the whole company for the same price as a remap right now!!

(It’s very sad to see in truth)

There are probably dozens of threads on the PedalBox on here, have a quick search.
I probably started most of them

They make the car feel far more responsive and are therefore a handy thing to try before you indulge in further tuning as they make the standard power and more importantly the (not inconsiderable) torque much more accessible.

Some say that they’re unnecessary and you should just press the right hand pedal harder. These people miss the point, wear tartan pyjamas and know all the names of the plants in their well stocked gardens...

so the accelerator paddle device would make quite a bit of difference? I have declared a remap / performance modification with my insurance.

far from it Ex. No point to miss really, I just think they are a waste of money and haven't felt the need for one. Doesn't mean some people won't like the placebo effect though

Placebo? Placebo??
Some of us don’t wear https://www.travisperkins.co.uk/concrete-blocks/solid-dense-7-3n-concrete-block-grey-100mm/p/700064 as insoles!

I much prefer a more tactile experience whilst driving in my favourite ballet shoes

By the way mcmaddy Burger Motorsport do a version of the Pedalbox too, you might hate that one a little less...  :lipsrsealed:

I came across this old review again by Chris Harris when the Mk7 GTI was launched...

6:10 - As for the turbocharging and throttle response, I cannot fault it... From a straight talking bloke who's driven probably every new performance car.
