Many thanks for that dilligolf. Still waiting for a return phone call from the branch manager where the initial work was carried out. TBH not really hopeful of any good news coming from that so would imagine the next port of call will be VW UK.

Dillgolf. Did you get a 2 yr guarantee for the repair from VW. My local dealers have offered me the same deal as what you’ve described. Yet to reply to them

Repair update.

Car was with the bodyshop for a couple of weeks but I think the repair only took 2 days.

£550 later and cant tell its been replaced.

Off topic was £215 the week before to replace a new tyre with a sidewall bulge following a big pothole.

Expansive month  !

Hi MOBY36, checked my records and there's nothing specific on the paperwork from the dealers, with the paperwork carrying the standard warranty terms on the reverse.

Checking my notes I gave up recording all the back and fore through frustration and annoyance.

IIRC, the labour probably had a 6 month cover, and the part 2 years (don't think  it was 3) as I remember thinking "... if it's going to fail every 2 to 3 years it's going to cost me £550 each time..." .

Good luck.

Hi dilligolf. Thanks for looking. Will chat to the dealers later and see what they say. I seem to remember I read somewhere that if you make a financial contribution to a repair then you are entitled to the standard 2 year guarantee.
