Remember them well Matt 👍👍. My dad was a driving instructor when I was younger and he always had a glovebox full of Esso tokens.

I’ve always used Shell V Power up until recently.

The price has become too high and the new points system seems to be be encouraging multiple visits and buying  coffee and other shop items which I don’t want. I would get another £3.00 for 300 litres for V Power  over normal offers but that’s only a penny a litre.

The new reward system from Shell is quite disappointing but the app works well.

So I have used Tesco Momentum for the last few fill ups. My car seems to really like it and the mpg seems better, anyone else noticed this?

I’ll continue using V Power for a few fill ups here and there because I think the detergents used are probably better than Tesco Momentum but not at the current hiked prices for everyday use.

Used to alway used V power but now use Momentum 99. My local shell now charges 18p a litre more for V power than their standard 95! Only used to be 6-8 difference as little as 6 years ago.

Must be a location thing but my preferred shell garage only changes v power by a penny up or down and the price hasn't dramatically increased. 🤷‍♂️

I've got the shell + app and I always seem to get money off when I use it plus cheaper coffee 😄
how do you use the shell app?
you scan the QR code every time you fill up and once you reach ten you very money off. You also get money off treats before reaching ten or free coffees or sweets etc
i see, thanks for that mcmaddy, they have offered me a £2 off just for registering, least that will make up for the difference from the cheaper momentum i mostly buy, il give it a go next time i need fuel, which wont be long cos these cars do like a drink dont they.
. iv just come from a 2014 golf r, the clubsport does seem slightly better on fuel , but not a great deal of difference.

I have now completed my 10th visit. Yes, I got the usual £2 for registering; then twice £1.40 discount and this month I got 8p discount per liter, which made for £3.62 on 45+ litres. Thus over 10 visits, buying 331 litres for £471.85 the total discount is £8.42. I would say it is disappointing and less than one would get with the previous rewards system...

On the previous points I used to get maybe a £4 voucher per quarter which I had to wait nearly six months to receive. Obviously the voucher was dependant on how much fuel I bought but with the new app I've already had more money off than the most I've ever had on the previous quarter on the old points system. Much better for me.

... and therein lies the problem with the current V-Power pricing.

With a tank (50 litres) of momentum circa £7 cheaper than a tank V-Power, the £8.42 'reward' from Shell after 6.62 fill-ups is nowhere near the £46.34 saved if you had filled up with Momentum in the first place.

I just use Sainsbury’s standard stuff can’t say I’ve noticed it being different to anything else.
