Hi guys,

Just read a few threads about keyless and am a little worried tbh. My Mk7 gti was stolen and had keyless, although they actually broke in to the house. Going to buy a faraday bag which I was only going to use in my house. Anyone have any experience of keyless and security?

Thanks in advance as usual.

If you're purchasing one, can I suggest: Disklabs Key Shield (KS1) Faraday Bag - RF Shielding for Car Keys

Available on Amazon for £27.99 but you can get it from a couple of other places for about £15-£17.

You don't need to spend that much on a Faraday bag.

Keyless is no longer an issue on the Golf 7.5, it can be disabled. Lock the car with the fob, then within 5 seconds press the keyless button/sensor on the door handle. That switches off the keyless-entry system until the next time you unlock the car with the fob. Perfect for when leaving the car overnight or if in a particularly vulnerable place.

I can vouch for this. Works a treat. Thanks for the heads up KMPowell 👍👍
Glad I could help  What was it you were doing wrong in the sequence initially for it not to work?

Indeed, one of these does the job perfectly at a fraction of the cost... https://amzn.to/2GFBvGb

Just remember to check periodically that the Faraday pouches are still blocking the key signal being transmitted. I’ve read that the signal blocking layer in the pouch can fail or degrade over time.

This is true, if you are using the pouch all the time the lining can break down. But given you can now switch keyless of you don't need to use it that much, only really overnight or leaving the car in a vulnerable place.

Some of these pouches also come with two pockets, one is lined and one isn't for other things. Some people put keys in the unlined pocket and then complain (in the reviews) that it doesn't work. Which when pointed out they are using the wrong pocket gives them a red face. Some amazon reviews are so funny "rip off etc etc"
