I’ve gone for the VagSport res delete, fitted today

First impressions- deeper and more noise but not daft. Couldn’t hear any drone on way home with a mix of motorway and A roads. Few burbles when going into first at junctions and certainly sounds great under hard acceleration.

There’s a video on the comments section of their post on Facebook.

Excellent Jim- car looks very nice too

I cant find the vid, maybe I need facebook to see comments

Glad you like it and no drone which is a big tick

If you ask your insurer they will tell you that you should disclose any and everything and let them decide if its a premium changing mod....

The less they know the better, any excuse to charge you more and they will. Someone on here put winter tyres on his car and let his insurance company know - they charged him £30.

If in doubt let them know. Better to fork out an extra £30 than belatedly finding out through some unfortunate circumstance that you have no insurance.

If you're not happy with what you're being charged then shop around for a better deal next time.

Agree with this. You’ll almost certainly find in the terms and conditions of all car insurance policies that insurers require to be informed of modifications. IMO it’s not worth taking the risk of not informing them and then finding your insurance has been voided in a situation where you’re relying on it paying out.

As a quick update, I've gone back to the OEM exhaust!

As I mentioned on here, I loved the sound apart from the drone on motorways which became draining.

Bizarrely the car now feels faster as it is much quieter at accelerating - an unexpected benefit I guess. I've even had to up the Soundaktor to 30% to compensate haha.

I'm glad I've changed back but I'm sure at some point I will be back on the hunt for more noise so I've kept the remus just in case. I will see how I get on with stock for a while (although that res delete does sound great Jim!)

I've had the res delete pipe on my CS since July last year and have had the res box refitted today

For me in the end I found it more annoying, at times sounding like exhaust had blown.....don't get me wrong, if its farts and crackles you're after you will definitely get them when giving it the beans but majority of driving and my DSG box in the end I found it too 'boomy' when I didn't want it to be....if that makes sense. Might be different on manual box and don't know if the CS tune has an impact/different effect than standard Gti's?

I loved it when I had it done and its not much outlay to try if you're unsure, also PP's at Manchester were spot on, really friendly helpful guys......so for the time being its back to OEM for me  :undecided:
