drivers window not auto opening.
« on: 02 July 2018, 12:09 »
Afternoon all.

My driver side window has stopped opening on auto,(one touch). It will close but not open, I have to hold it down.
I tried the window reset method. Hold down for 5 secs then hold up for 5 secs but no change. I have OBD11,is there any coding
I could try.

Cheers

Hi Alan, seems to be a common fault with the switch

Sounds like you have tried the below

But could be worth trying to lubricate as it’s really dry at the minute.

My last GTD did this. You could reset it with the holding the button trick and it would be fine for a little while, then go wrong again.

I did discover it was probably a faulty switch, but could never persuade the dealership to actually fix it - they just did the same reset. I could have pushed harder I guess but I wasn't about to keep running back to them for something so trivial, so gave up!

Thanks fellas. The window seal does seem a bit dry so will try lubricating. Out of warranty last month so next time I'm at the Indy he'll sort it.

When I had this problem it usually happened following a passenger operating (fiddling with) the control button.
These days, unless my passengers are VW savy I tell them to ask me if they want the window open.

Same with carrying other drivers who insist on slamming my doors as if its a Ford, I tell them this is a VW and then demonstrate the correct closing technique (stlumff).

Not keyless sorry.

Hello just thought I would share this with you hope it helps
My neighbor had problem with windows not moving up or down when opening or closing he said that it used to work until garage changed door from an accident.Well I had a look and windows all work but drivers window not on one touch .So I did a reset on window but this did not change anything so thinking it could be the switch we’re going to seek professional help but we found on the on board computer there’s a factory reset for windows operating we pressed reset and now he is all back to normal happy chap.

In short try reset window
Then reset factory settings for open and closing windows
