My first VW - GTI 7.5
« on: 06 April 2018, 12:34 »
Hi all,

Thought I'd pop a post on here as I have just gone and bought my first VW - and I doubt it will be the last.

I have been looking for a new car, it had to be practical and economical for work, while being fun on the weekends. I looked at a Focus ST and a 330d msport, and never really give VW a thought as to me they were always a bit boring.

Well I drove past a VW dealer Saturday just gone and thought i'd have a gander, and was blown away with a GTI they had in the showroom - Indium Grey 5 door, Santiago alloys & DSG - I couldn't believe how far the Golf has come since the mk4, the only VW I have spent some time in really.

So I bought it on the Monday after having a think, and picked it up Wednesday. Its such an amazing car - and I'm comparing it to some of my previous cars (e46 M3, Toyota Supra, Nissan Silvia, Scooby STI etc - humble brag!). Its so usable! It literally does everything I need, I just cant stop driving it!

Guess now i'm a VAG boy  no point to this post really, just dead happy with my purchase  :nerd:

Welcome to the forum.

Good to hear that you're happy with your purchase. It seems you're here for the same reason as most others on here; your appreciation of what is a very good car.

Please tell us you researched the market to find a good discount and forced your dealer to match it.

Great colour choice, Indium does look great on a GTi. Also the upgrade wheels are a great bonus as the standard ones look very poor.

Just a quick one regarding my new car, I turned it on yesterday and something hissed for around 5 seconds, quite a loud hiss - sounds like aircon or something? Is that normal?

Could be the aircon, could be the fuel pump.

Both are normal noises (I've had Mk7/Mk7.5 since 2014).
